Bethel Lutheran Church Oktoberfest

October brings us one month closer to the wonderful holiday season and also the time for giving. Today at Bethel Lutheran Church in Biloxi they held a silent auction to raise money for those in need in the Gulf Coast area and around the world. Their women’s group puts on this event each year and members of the church not only bring items to auction off, but also put on a full German feast. The Lutheran church comes from German background so they thought it only fitting to have an Oktoberfest themselves. Barb Gibson said to News 25, "well today is an event we do every single October. it’s called Oktoberfest and it is sponsored by our women’s group as a way to earn money. Our women’s group is very active in worldwide outreach for people that are under privileged literally around the world. We have a quilting group that makes hundreds of quilts a year and sends the to Lutheran World Relief." Throughout the year they will raise over $2,000 for those in need all over the world.
