Benefit for Mardi Gras Shooting Victims

The community continues to rally behind the family of victims of the fatal Pass Christian parade shooting.
Today, over $4,000 was raised at a fish fry in Gulfport. The money will be split evenly for funeral expenses for both victims, Carlos Bates and Isaiah Major III. Family and friends came together to donate and show their support. Bates’ mother, Rosie McLaurin, tells News 25 that she is overwhelmed by the generosity of the Coast community. “They didn’t have to do this. I really appreciate it and if I could do anything to show them my appreciation, I would.”
McLaurin says that she wants to see justice served for her son and Major. She hopes this will be a wakeup call on the Coast to end gun violence.
