Bel-Air Elementary holds ‘Socks for Senior’ drive for local senior citizens

Bel-Air Elementary School’s National Elementary Honor Society needs your help collecting slip resistant socks for the residents of Summerfield Senior Living of Gulfport.

With temperatures cooling off and the holiday season approaching, students and teachers at the school have been asked to donate a pair of slip resistant socks.

The class with the most donated socks will win an ice-cream sundae party. National Elementary Honor Society Chairperson Raylie Shaconner said, “Usually every year we been doing the socks for seniors, so we decided to do it again this year to give them that support again and just be helpful to our community.”

National Elementary Honor Society Co-Chair Kayla White said, “So starting children off completing community service projects is imperative because if you start them early, hopefully that will encourage them to continue community service as they get older.”

If community members would like to help the kids at Bel-Air Elementary with their sock drive. You can drop slip resistant socks off at the front office up until October 21st.
