Beauvoir Fall Muster

History came to life at Beauvoir this weekend for an annual reenactment.

The 33rd annual Fall Muster is one of Beauvoir’s largest fundraisers each year. Over 300 reenactors representing the Union and Confederacy camped out on the grounds with Civil War era dress and equipment.

The three-day event began with a day for schools on Friday and mock battles in front of the public.

Beauvoir Board Member Charlie Schmitz says the muster is a big learning experience. “We want to portray history as it was, to learn both ourselves and to educate the public. You know, there’s a famous quote that floats around that’s misquoted so often, but if you don’t learn from history, if you don’t know your history, you’re doomed to repeat it.”

The Fall Muster will return October 17th and 18th in 2020.
