Beau Rivage employees donate school supplies to local students
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)-With the new school year now underway, Beau Rivage employees are helping ensure local students have the supplies they need to succeed.
Throughout the month of July, employees took part in a friendly competition between departments to see who could collect the most school supplies.
Friday, volunteers sorted and packaged those donations, which will be distributed to schools in Harrison and Jackson Counties next week.
The drive reflects Beau Rivage’s ongoing commitment to giving back and investing in the community it serves. Corporate Responsibility Chair Margaret Chapman said, “You know in this day and age things are expensive, and we know not only are the kids worried are they going to have their supplies but really parents. Do they have enough supplies for their kids? The teachers, do they know if they’re going to have kids that don’t have all their school supplies? My daughter in law is an elementary school teacher and I know each summer, she’s kind of worried if her team will have enough, so they can enjoy it. So, this really takes the weight off and makes us feel great when we go to the schools. We see the principals, teachers, kids and they’re so excited. I know the kids get excited about the new, fresh smell of all the stuff. They see the backpacks that have their favorite characters on it, the markers, all the stuff, they’re giggling and so happy. It really makes you feel good inside that you are helping make everything better.”
Organizers say every backpack, notebook, and box of supplies collected will help students start the school year with resources they need to learn and grow.
