Beau Rivage and Feeding the Gulf Coast team up to prepare take-home food for kids

Beau Rivage has been partnering with Feeding the Gulf Coast for more than a decade to provide food for school children in South Mississippi.

The Backpack Mission is a program that allows a child to pick up a plastic bag every Friday with enough food to last them for the weekend.

Beau Rivage employees help by donating food or take time to prepare a box to donate. Seventeen pallets had more than 5,000 bags filled with nutritious foods for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

Beau Rivage VP of Hospitality Murat Akan understands that sometimes children eat only during the week at school, so it’s important to partner with an organization that makes sure no child will go hungry, especially since food prices have gone up. “When we donate and when we provide these kinds of opportunities for our young children. We want them to feel supported. That’s the most important for us because they will be our future right. We want them to feel safe, secure, and supportive here, so they can take it to the next level as they grow up. That’s Beau Rivage’s most important community footprints: creating efforts.”

The Backpack Mission was put on hold the last two years due to COVID, so it was an exciting day for Beau Rivage.
