Beat the heat walking through the mall!

By simply walking, you can increase your cardiovascular fitness.

But in this heat, even walking seems unbearable.

“It’s too hot to be outside walking even on the beach, you have to think of safety,” Patricia Wheaton, a Gulfport resident, said.

“We usually walk the beach but it’s oppressive in the heat,” Suzanne Shelley, another Gulfport resident, said.

Go for a walk inside the Edgewater Mall. One lap around the mall is one mile and the mall opens at 7:30.

It’s free and you can join their dedicated group of walkers.

“My philosophy is every day I do this I add another day to my life. so far it’s working for me,” Ron White, a Biloxi resident, said. “I moved to the coast just as the mall opened. it’s expanded and i think it’s a great asset to the community.”

“I wouldn’t be able to walk today if it wasn’t for this mall. I had chemo 7 or 8 years ago and I couldn’t walk,” Ken Hoffman, a Biloxi resident, said. “Paulette brought me over here and I could go bench to bench, it took me a really long time. Now I can make it two miles.”

“It’s good for your heart health and your weight but even more so for your emotional and psychological well being. It’s a plus for that,” Shelley said.

“It is a community and they’re all really friendly and healthy people,” White said.

So whether you want to boost your health or you mood, take a stroll with the Edgewater Walkers.
