Bead recycling drives continue across the Coast

When you’re finished catching all of those Mardi Gras beads, there are two ways you can donate those throws for good causes.

The Mississippi Aquarium Bead Recycling Drive runs for another month until March 22nd.

Those beads will then go to the Arc of Greater New Orleans organization where they will be recycled and sold. You can drop off those beads from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at the Aquarium’s ticket office or the security office on 22nd Street.

The Beads for Special Needs Drive continues until Saturday. It’s a project run by the North Bay Civitan Club of D’Iberville-St. Martin. Those beads will be distributed to various local agencies and schools who will then also recycle and sell those beads as a way to teach life skills to those with disabilities.

To participate you can drop beads off at St. Martin Public Library, Jerry Lawrence Memorial Library, and Gunter Library.
