Beach wishes come true with Make-a-Wish Foundation

Wishes came true this past Saturday as the Make-A-Wish Foundation gifted Long Beach resident Jada Le a new beach accessible wheelchair.

Jada is a 13-year-old girl who has muscular dystrophy and seizure disorder. She loves the beach, but was often unable to access the beach due to her wheelchair’s mobility issue on the sand.

On Saturday, Jada thought she was going to meet her family members who came into town from New Orleans.

While she did see her family, she was also surprised with a brand-new beach-accessible wheelchair to help her move around easier on the sand and in the water. “I finally get to go to the beach and actually go in the water and finally swim for one of the first times.”

Make-A-Wish board member and volunteer Rachel Leggitt said, “It is a very rewarding feeling to know that our work paid off and to see the smiles on the kids face. There’s nothing like it. So, it’s fun to be a part of this process.”
