Beach cleanup in Harrison County

Did you know the only legal place to set off fireworks in Harrison County is on the beach?

There are only two times during the year where people are able to legally set off fireworks in Harrison County and that is the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve on the beach.

Even though you can legally buy fireworks in some cities like Biloxi, you cannot legally set them off there.

The only thing beach officials ask is that you clean up any trash or fireworks debris when you are finished. Sand Beach Department Director Chuck Loftis said, “There are trash cans by all of the parking bays. If you park a car up along the highway there are plenty of places all over for you to put your debris back in.”

The Harrison County Sand Beach Department will be picking trash up on all 26 miles of the beaches tomorrow. They have New Year’s Day off.
