Be Sure to Insure New Xmas Presents

If you think all those Chrismas presents you just received are covered in your homeowners insurance, you may want to think again. According to State Farm, all the gift giving may put homeowners outside of range of their insurance coverage.

State Farm is encouraging people to take an inventory of their belongings to make sure they have adequate coverage. It’s also important to remember that many insurance policies have limits for the coverage of certain items like jewelry, fur, or firearms. According to State Farm, burglaries increase during the holiday season, putting uninsured items at risk.

E.J. Roberts, a State Farm agent, says, “Usually, the items that are targeted in the event of a theft are jewelry, firearms, items that can be quickly picked up and sold on the black market without any difficulties.”

State Farm encourages homeowners to speak with their agents to better understand their coverage.
