Be a Santa to marine life at IMMS

You can help buy presents for marine life this holiday season.

The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies has created their annual wish list. Many of the items on the list are toys used for enrichment with all the animals housed at IMMS.

Something as simple as a soccer ball can give mental stimulation to a dolphin or a sea lion. As you can imagine, these toys get beat up quick and need to be replaced. IMMS Senior Trainer Taylor Appling said, “So, because they’re here in this pool they don’t have a lot of external stimuli coming in. Their environment itself isn’t overly stimulating, so we like to give them toys so they have things to interact with and play with. We want to make sure that they’re always active, always thinking, so that they have the best life they can.”
