‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ wrapping party underway in Biloxi

The organization Home Instead is hosting their ‘Be a Santa for a Senior’ wrapping party this evening.

The event began at 3 this afternoon and is expected to run until about 9.

Up to 50 volunteers each year show up to the event to help wrap Christmas presents for seniors in senior care facilities.

This year, Home Instead collected 1,500 gifts to be wrapped and shipped. The organization collected these gifts by placing trees in local CVS stores across the Coast with bulbs on them with the name of a senior and what they would like for Christmas.

Residents would then get the gift for that person and bring it back to the CVS.

The items were then collected and brought to be wrapped. Home Instead Home Care Consultant Christopher Thompson said, “Yeah, we look forward to this event every year. This is one of those events that we really truly look forward to and can’t wait to bring community joy back out. This event’s been going on and on. Last year due to COVID, we weren’t able to do it quite this well. So, we’ve had a lot of participation this year.”

Once the gifts are wrapped, they will then be shipped to the senior it was purchased for.
