A Bay St. Louis man has been indicted on charges stemming from a traffic collision that left one person dead.

47-year-old James Holmes Jr., was arrested Thursday on one count of manslaughter and two counts of DUI causing serious injury. He was taken to Hancock County jail and bond has not been set.

The incident that led to the indictment happened in November 2022. Waveland officers responded to a wreck involving two trucks on Highway 90.

A man, later identified as 31-year-old Bizmark Perez of Waveland, suffered serious injuries after being thrown from the back of a truck. He died at the hospital.

Police determined that the first truck had slowed to turn on to Kiln Waveland Cutoff Road when the truck driven by Holmes struck it from behind.

Holmes initially was jailed on charges of aggravated DUI causing death.

He awaits an appearance in Hancock County Circuit Court.
