Bay St. Louis issues burn ban for the city

The city of Bay St. Louis has issued a burn ban due to dry conditions and high winds.
This comes on the heels of a fire in Mud Bayou that threatened Buccaneer State Park earlier this week, as well as a grass fire on Interstate 10 that closed the highway for 11 hours.
Bay St. Louis Fire Chief Monty Strong said in a press release that anyone who violates the burn ban will be charged with a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $100 to $500.
Residens may use propane or gas grills or heaters or charcoal grills.
Campfires, bonfires, fire pits, fire rings, burn barrels, debris burning, field burning and any other type of open flame that produces and ember are prohibited.
