Bay Rollers celebrate MLK Day
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has been celebrated and honored throughout the country and on the Coast today.
One group of local men decided to celebrate the day by putting on their helmets and strapping themselves onto their bikes. The Bay Rollers Cycling Club took to the streets for a ceremonial bike ride in honor of the legacy that Martin Luther King Jr. left behind.
The group called this bike ride a no drop ride which means that anyone was welcome to join, even inexperienced riders.
This is the fourth year the Bay Rollers held this event. Myron Labat with the Bay Rollers said, “We are going to meet here at the Martin Luther King Park in Bay St. Louis cycle to the Martin Luther King Park in Waveland and then come back here on our bikes for the start of the parade on Sycamore Street. We are doing this to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who in my estimation is one of the greatest men in history and we want everybody to join us in doing that.”
The Bay Rollers no drop bike ride came out to be a total of about eight miles.
