Bay man sentenced to 60 years for homicides
District Attorney Joel Smith announced today that Myrick Curtis Laneaux, age 29, pled guilty in the July 2016 homicides of Kristina Quintini and Norris Demetris Mueller of Bay St. Louis.
Laneaux pled guilty to two counts of Manslaughter and a count of aggravated assault, for also shooting Mueller and Quintini’s six month old daughter.
Judge Christopher Schmidt sentenced Laneaux to three consecutive 20 prison sentences for a total of 60 years, and suspended 20 years for successful completion of 20 years of post-release supervision.
The investigation began on July 30, 2016, when the mother of Quintini reported her missing. Bay St. Louis Police Department responded to Quintini’s apartment and found the deceased bodies of Mueller and Quintini and their six-month old daughter wrapped in a comforter with a gunshot wound to her shoulder.
No weapons, DNA or fingerprints were found at the scene to identify a suspect. Witnesses reported seeing Laneaux, a close friend of the victims, at the apartment earlier that morning, and described their interactions the day before as normal. Laneaux later told several individuals he shot the victims during a dispute over a small amount of money. “This account was substantiated with cell phone records recovered by investigators”, said ADA Chris Daniel who prosecuted the case.
