Bass Masters Youth Fishing Tournament

Two hundred and twenty five high school anglers from across the region are on the Coast this weekend to take part in the Mississippi Bass Masters Youth Fishing Tournament.
While the kids were out surveying the waters today, the actual competition will start at 2 o’clock tomorrow morning. Weigh-ins will be at 2 in the afternoon at The Dock restaurant on Seaway Road. Winners will receive cash prizes as well as scholarships and move on to the National Bass Masters Competition.
Organizers tell News 25 this isn’t only fun for the kids but has been life changing for a number of them. Mississippi High School Bass Masters Youth Director Richard Parker said, “These kids come with a smile on their face that a lot of them never had. Some that were failing in school are smiling again because it’s an opportunity for them to do something they enjoy and they are passing in school again. Parents are grateful as well.”
This is just one of the seven tournaments Mississippi High School Bass Masters puts on throughout the year.
