Base Sports Performance celebrates grand opening in Ocean Springs

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- A new training facility is celebrating its grand opening in Ocean Springs, offering a place for athletes and adults to train, grow, and reach their fitness goals.

Base Sports Performance is officially open just outside the Ocean Springs Sportsplex, welcoming the community into a new facility designed for personalized training at an affordable price. CEO Jacob Billingsley said, “I went and did the certification with no intention of opening a business, no intention of being a coach, I was trying to learn what I needed to know to train myself as a professional athlete. I started thinking, how many more athletes are in the shoes I was in at 25? These 12, 13, 16 years old that want to play their sport in college, but just don’t have the direction and that’s what we look to try to provide.”

The facility offers sports performance training for athletes ages 11 through college, along with adult personal training through its ‘Fit over 40’ program, all in small group sessions designed to build speed, increase strength and power, and help clients recover and return to play. Professional Volleyball Player Amelia Moore said, “I really love that it’s not generalized programs for athletes. It’s sports specific programs that make us really build for my individual sport. So, baseball players versus football versus volleyball, we’re all going to do different things. That’s what we need as an athlete, to be able to grow individually, but also working out in the culture is really awesome.”

The community is invited to explore the new facility during a free open house workout scheduled for Tuesday, July 14 beginning at 6:45.
