Barges break lose from tugboat in Biloxi Back Bay.

A group of barges crashed into a private pier on the Back Bay of Biloxi, causing concern for many homeowners in the area.

This is video taken by Ricky Mathews earlier Friday afternoon, showing the group of tied-together barges making contact with that pier after breaking free from a tugboat.

This all happened just east of the Popp’s Ferry Bridge.

No injuries were reported and City of Biloxi officials say the barges were not in danger of colliding with the bridge.

Officials with the City of Biloxi tells News 25 the owners of the barges have been notified, DMR and the Coast Guard are responding.

The owners of the barges sent two vessels to remove the barges from the area.
