Bacot Park to have splash pad this summer

Bacot Park will be closed for construction until mid-June. According to Gautier city officials, what workers are building will be worth the wait.
A new 25 foot circular splash pad will soon be a part of Bacot Park for children and their families to enjoy in South Gautier. Once construction is finished, officials tell News 25 the splash pad will have multiple in-ground water features.
Jackson County and Gautier officials say they’re excited to provide the children in the community with another summer activity. Ward 2 Councilman Hurley Ray Guillotte said, “A lot of kids and their parents can’t go to city parks. So, we built something in the community where it would be best used. We have a lot of kids down there and single parents that would walk down there to it. Bring their kids in the summertime! So, I think it would really be used down there and I call this the first thing that will bring new life back to our park.”
Leaders with the project hope the $40,000 splash pad will be open by mid-June.
