‘Backpacks for a Bright Future’ event set for tomorrow
With the start of school just around the corner, Keesler Federal Credit Union is doing what they can to get students ready for the first day.
For the third year, Keesler Federal Credit Union is preparing to hold Backpacks for a Bright Future where they provide backpacks and school supplies to more than 6,100 kindergarteners in 16 school districts across the six Mississippi Gulf Coast counties.
Financial Education Specialist Anthony Abella who is in charge of the project says it is something he looks forward to. “It’s very rewarding because some of these students might not have a lot. We always kind of research how much school supplies go up and up every year. So, the cost can add up for parents. It is basically like Christmas whenever we seem them open up those packages.”
Representatives from each district will pick up the supplies from the convention center, Wednesday, July 20th and distribute them to students at a later date.
