Back to School Blitz: Meet Dr. Melody Smith, WXXV and Huntington Learning Center’s June Teacher of the Month
SAUCIER, Miss. (WXXV) — The start of a new school year means the return of WXXV and Huntington Learning Center’s Teacher of the Month segment!
To celebrate, WXXV is honoring three local teachers in a Back to School Blitz. The first honoree is June’s belated Teacher of the Month, Dr. Melody Smith!
Dr. Smith is an inclusion special needs teacher at West Wortham Elementary and Middle School. She goes above and beyond to support her students both in and out of the classroom and was nominated by her husband, Joseph.
“Dr. Smith goes above and beyond,” Smith wrote in his nomination. “At school an hour early, often there an hour or two late. She volunteers for Buddy Sports, an organization that gives special needs kids a means to play different sports, from baseball to horseback riding.”
