Back to a new school in Biloxi
School starts Friday for junior high students in Biloxi. Their brand new school is nearly complete with teachers and construction workers busy putting on the finishing touches.
The $37 million project will now be home to separate wings for seventh and eighth graders, made up of over five classrooms, along with science labs, a state of the art cafeteria with covered outdoor seating, and a fine arts wing.
One teacher tells News 25 that this new learning environment has everyone excited for the first day of the upcoming school year. Seventh grade Teacher Elizabeth Williams said, “Just to have them in this new environment and have them be able to use all these new pieces of technology that we have. We have some state of the art science labs that they’re going to just die over. We have incredible facilities and lots of opportunities, even our furniture allows for new small group type of work that we haven’t been able to do before. We really think that the students are going to love what we have to offer this year.”
The new school is going to be located right next to Biloxi High School. The old junior high location on Father Ryan Avenue will become the new Biloxi Upper Elementary.
