Baby and Father Found Dead in D’Iberville

A man in D’Iberville took his own life after finding his 10-month-old baby dead in his apartment.
Police responded to a medical emergency at Landmark Apartments in D’Iberville at approximately 4:11 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a deceased 10-month-old baby on the bathroom floor. According to the grandfather of the infant, his son hysterically ran out of the apartment as they were waiting for authorities to arrive.
D’Iberville Police Captain Marty Griffin said, “We began a search for the child’s father and shortly thereafter, located him in an adjacent building, finding him also deceased of an apparent suicide.”
D’Iberville Fire Department and AMR immediately began life-saving procedures. The father was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing.
