‘AVIDD’ law appreciation banquet in Gulfport

Tonight in Orange Grove, one local group put down the welcome mat and gave local law enforcement a big thank you for their service.
The group behind that law appreciation banquet is Advocates for Victims of Impaired and Distracted Driving, a group made up of men and women who lost loved ones in traffic collisions caused by drunk drivers or texting and driving. The group understands firsthand some of the horrible situations law enforcement are subjected to daily.
This banquet is the first of what they say will be an annual way of thanking the men and women wearing badges and keeping the Coast safe. Bill Downs with AVIDD said, “Just the fact that they’re out there and they’re making a personal sacrifice for us, the forerunners in protecting the community, protecting our loved ones on the road and keeping the roads safe. I just feel like it’s not an obligation, but from my heart I want to say thank you for a job well done.”
The group extended an invitation to every agency across the Gulf Coast. They hope it will become bigger and better every year.
