Autopsy Released in Vancleave Murder

An autopsy performed on a Vancleave woman found dead at her home Saturday, January 7th, reveals Elizabeth Corene Jones died from multiple stab wounds and blunt neck injury.
The man charged with her murder, 32-year-old Brandon Colby Smith, is in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center on a $250,000 bond. The murder charge against him will be presented to a Jackson County grand jury.
Sheriff Mike Ezell said Smith and Jones were acquaintances, but the motive is still unknown. The investigation into Jones’ murder continues.
