Authorities searching for escaped inmates in Hinds County

Authorities in Mississippi are searching for two escaped inmates.

Michael Lewis and Joseph Spring, both 31, were discovered missing during this morning’s official headcount at the Raymond Detention Center in Hinds County.

Officials later found a breach in the facility and fence damage. Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said, “We believe that they were able to get access to an air duct within the facility, which led to the exterior of the facility where they were able to go over a fence and escape the facility as well. Once again, I know I apologized before and here we are once again. And I’m apologizing to the people of Hinds County regarding what I would consider another public safety breach in our facility.”
