Auditor Shad White wants defamation case filed by Brett Favre dismissed

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)-State Auditor Shad White is appealing to the Mississippi Supreme Court as he seeks to get the defamation case filed against him by Brett Favre dismissed.

White argues that the case presents first amendment questions, specifically surrounding the ability of public servants carrying out their duties.

Favre filed the lawsuit against White in 2023 after Auditor White made comments about Favre’s alleged ties to the state welfare scandal.

Two previous motions by White to dismiss the case have been dismissed by a Hinds County Circuit Judge.
