Auction Raises Funds for Catholic Church

St. Rose De Lima Catholic Church held a live auction as a way to raise money for its outstanding expenses.
All items up for bid at the auction were donated by parishioners and people in the surrounding community. Items range from furniture and silverware to clothing, paintings and more. Plates of home cooked meals were available for purchase as a way to raise money as well.
Saint Rose De Lima parishioner Glenda Schornick and her husband started the idea of a live auction back in 2011. “Our expenses are really high. Utilities and insurance, especially, in Bay St. Louis is very high since Katrina. So, we needed to find new ways to raise money. My husband and I were on the fundraising committee that year and said ‘well, how about if we try an auction?’”
The auction has brought in as much as $8,000 in funds for the church.
