Attorney General’s Office Asks for Execution Date
According to our media partner, the Sun Herald, the attorney general’s office has filed a motion requesting an execution date for Richard Gerald Jordan. The attorney general’s office is asking for a date on or before August 27th.
Jordan was convicted in the 1976 kidnapping and killing of a Gulfport banker’s wife. The motion with the U.S. Supreme Court paves the way for the execution of Mississippi’s longest serving death row inmate.
The attorney general’s office had agreed to wait until an alternative to the drug used to kill inmates was found.
