Assaulted while on the job

Caught on camera: an office manager at a car dealership in Gulfport was the victim of assault. On Tuesday, a woman who was upset about having her vehicle repossessed walked into Select One Auto Sales in Gulfport, demanding to have her vehicle back.

About a minute and a half into the conversation with the office manager, the woman gets up from her chair and throws a punch at the office manager. James Hernandez, a sales associate at the dealership, tries to push the woman away, but she then becomes violent toward him.

News 25 spoke to Hernandez who says the dealership is now taking precautionary measures to prevent another scene like this from reoccurring. “It’s definitely put us a little more on edge. Whenever we have an individual come into the office we do everything we can to ensure that there are two people at all times so none of us are there alone. We’ve gone to take measures to ensure we can protect ourselves a little bit better. We bought pepper spray and things like that.”

Hernandez tells us charges have been filed against the woman.  Deputy Chief Chris Loposser with Gulfport PD says the offender should be receiving a warrant for her arrest early next week.
