Arrests made in elder abuse investigation in George County

GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Two George County residents are facing charges following an investigation into the alleged neglect of an elderly vulnerable person.

George County Sheriff’s Investigators say Robert Leonard and Mary Bernadette Leonard of the Howell community are each charged with abuse or neglect of a vulnerable person.

Details are limited in this case, but we do know the investigation started back in June 2025, when deputies received a report from a family member who reported severe neglect that resulted in the victim in this case being hospitalized.

The Leonards turned themselves in Friday and had their bond set at $2,000 each.
