Three teenagers arrested in connection to drive-by shooting in Gulfport
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — Gulfport Police have arrested three teenagers in connection to a drive by shooting that took place Monday afternoon.
Gulfport Police said Tuesday they arrested 18-year-old Michael King and 18-year-old Demetrius Coleman Jr. They were each charged with one count of drive-by shooting. 18-year-old Semaj Taylor was also arrested and charged with one count of accessory after the fact to a drive-by shooting.
Authorities say on Monday, April 13, 2020, at approximately 1:26 p.m., officers of the Gulfport Police Department responded to Klein Road after receiving a report about a shooting into an occupied dwelling. While responding to the scene, it was learned 19-year-old Kameron Bettis was transported to a local hospital and had suffered a gunshot wound sustained in the drive-by shooting.
Bettis was air lifted to University of Southern Alabama Medical Center where he later died as a result of his injuries.
After booking and processing, Coleman Jr. and King were both charged with drive-by shooting and their bonds were set at $500,000. Taylor was charged with accessory after the fact to a drive-by shooting and his bond was set at $250,000.
