Father arrested in death of infant son

A Gulfport man is now behind bars on a felony charge of second-degree murder.

Twenty-eight year-old Bryon Ellison has been arrested for allegedly abusing his two month old child that later passed away.

Sheriff Troy Peterson says deputies responded to Calcutta Drive for a medical emergency of a two month old who was reportedly not breathing.

The child was transported to Garden Park Medical Center and later discovered that the infant child had sustained multiple brain bleeds. The child was airlifted to Ochsner Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Ellison confessed to abusing the child. Sheriff Peterson stated the child succumbed to his injuries and died on October 18^th, 2018. An autopsy was later performed and the death of the child was ruled a homicide.

Ellison is being held on a one million dollar bond.
