Arrested on felony charges of fleeing, assault on a law enforcement officer, and other charges

On March 20th, Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley announced the arrest of 41-year-old Christopher Colt Brown of Diamondhead on felony charges of felony fleeing, assault on a law enforcement officer, and federal drugs and firearms violations.

Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Patrol Units conducted a traffic stop on an Infinity SUV on Canal Road near I-10 in Gulfport for a traffic violation.

After items indicative of drug use were observed in the vehicle, the driver, identified as Brown, forcibly entered back into his vehicle, sped away, and led deputies on a pursuit west on I-10 for several miles into Louisiana.

Brown subsequently collided his vehicle into a patrol until and came to a stop near Slidell.  He was taken into custody where it was learned he was in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle ensued yielding approximately two ounces of methamphetamine.

Brown was taken into custody by Louisiana State Troopers on felony charges of criminal damage to government property and assault on a law enforcement officer.

Brown will also face felony charges through the sheriff’s office for fleeing and the US Drug Enforcement Administration for federal drug and weapons violations.

Brown is currently being held in the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Center without bond pending judicial and extradition proceedings.

The US Border Patrol also assisted in the apprehension and investigation.
