Arrested at safety checkpoint in George County after sheriff finds drugs, gun in car

George County deputies seized a felony amount of marijuana in the Basin Community as the suspect tried to pass through a safety checkpoint.

The deputies also found a firearm in the car, illegal in the presence of a felony amount of narcotics.

Twenty-one-year-old Jaylon Keeling of Mobile was booked and more charges are pending. His bond is set at $10,000.

The department handed the case over to the Mississippi Narcotics Task Force for investigation.

Safety checkpoints will continue in the area.
