Arrested and charged with simple assault on a police officer

Katelyn Yeoman

On Tuesday, February 13, 2024 around 4:00 pm, Biloxi Patrol Officers were in the area of Howard Avenue and Hopkins Boulevard for crowd control, in reference to Gulf Coast Carnival Association’s Mardi Gras Parade.

While doing so, officers witnessed some event spectators crossing between floats traveling in the area. In order to avoid any potential accidents, Officers made contact with those walking between floats.

While doing so, contact was made with 20-year-old Katelyn Michele Yeoman of Ocean Springs, who also entered the parade route. After contact was made, she became uncooperative and eventually struck one of the officers in the face with a closed fist.

As a result of the incident, Yeoman was arrested and charged with Simple Assault on a Police Officer. Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain was contacted and he issued a bond of $50,000. Yeoman was later transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where she was booked.
