Arrested for aggravated assault

Last night, D’Iberville police responded to reports of shots fired at the Walmart on Sangani Boulevard when responding officers were flagged down to Rudy Moran Park where a 17-year-old was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Twenty-one year-old Austen Nguyen faces three counts of aggravated assault. Authorities conclude that an argument took place inside of Walmart between rival individuals from D’Iberville and St. Martin. The argument continued into the parking lot and witnesses say they saw someone use a paintball gun to shoot another car.

The other car fired a gun at the other car and struck the vehicle near the driver side rear seat where the victim was sitting. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
