Arrest made over threat to D’Iberville High School

On Sunday 18 year old Robert Murray of Biloxi was arrested after officials say he made a threat on Snapchat to shoot up D’Iberville High School. He’s charged with making a terroristic threat and is now on a 50,000 bond.

According to Harrison county Sheriff Matt Haley, these sort of threats are something they never disregard.

“There’s always a concern and we’re always on high alert when it comes to these threats. Law enforcement in general takes every one of these threats very seriously.”

The threat against D’Iberville High School would not mark the first time that something like this happened across South Mississippi. In September a 16 year old was arrested after making threatening phone calls which locked down Harrison Central High. Back in May, West Harrison High School was put under lockdown after a caller had  stated they put a weapon and bombs inside the school. Situations such as these are something Sheriff Haley says law enforcement always has to be prepared for.

“We have a lot of procedures in place as far as this goes. Our officers train for this on a regular basis, we have school threat assessments that happen on a regular basis. There’s always room for improvement but we train regularly in case of such.

For those who might be thinking of making their own school threat in the future, Sheriff Matt Haley has one thing to say.

“So I want to be very clear. If you make a threat to the safety of our children, we find you and we will arrest you.”
