Arrest made in Gulfport shooting

A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Gulfport.

Gulfport police arrested 23-year-old Avante Jaquan Kirk. He is charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into a dwelling.

During the investigation, witnesses reported that Kirk arrived at a Gulfport residence and engaged in a verbal argument, which escalated into Kirk brandishing a firearm, discharging it, and striking a resident.

Kirk was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
