Arrest made after incident at Ocean Spring High School Thursday

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- There was extra security at Ocean Springs High School Friday following an incident in the school’s parking lot.

District officials say a former student allegedly threatened a current student with a weapon during dismissal Thursday afternoon.

Officials tell WXXV the incident happened quickly and was reported immediately.

School district police responded and arrested the former student shortly after the alleged threat.

School officials say no students were physically harmed during the incident. Still, the situation prompted the district to notify parents that evening.

An email was sent out Thursday night explaining what happened and reassuring families that the incident occurred after dismissal and was handled by school district police.

Today was the last day of school for students in the Ocean Springs School District as they head into the Christmas holiday.

The Ocean Springs School District or the Ocean Springs Police Department have not released the identity of the suspect in this case.
