April is Foot Health Awareness Month
This month is Foot Health Awareness Month.
Did you know one in four Americans suffer from foot problems?
As people age, foot conditions can worsen due to diabetes, high blood pressure, heart conditions, overuse, and injuries.
Dr. Renita Parker is a podiatrist at Memorial Health System and treats a variety of foot and ankle ailments, including calluses, ingrown toenails, heel spurs, arthritis, congenital foot and ankle deformities, and arch problems.
Dr. Parker says healthy feet as essential to daily life and it’s important to check them regularly for abnormalities such as sores, cuts, or infections.
“Foot care and evaluations are important. Number one – especially for patients that are diabetic, patients that have pain, that is a chronic issue,” Dr. Parker said.
Dr. Parker works out of the Memorial Biloxi location on Reynoir Street and the Memorial Wiggins location on East Central Avenue.
