April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, the City of Bay St. Louis planted pinwheels and decorated Hancock County Courthouse blue to raise awareness.
Experts from diverse fields including psychology, social work, law enforcement, education, and healthcare joined together. This approach ensures that every aspect of child abuse prevention and intervention is addressed, from identifying and reporting child abuse to providing support and resources to survivors and their families.
After the ceremony, First Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis hosted a lunch and Hope Haven gave out awards to individuals and departments. Multi Discipline Facilitator for Hope Haven Kimberly Thomas said, “I’m so proud of Hancock County. I moved here about a year ago to work as a facilitator for this team and they show up. They really think about the children. They are all about the children and have been very impressive for the last 12 months with me.”
There will be a ‘No Excuse for Child Abuse’ drawdown dinner and comedy show Saturday, April 1st at 6:30 p.m. at St. Rose de Lima Holy Spirit Center in Bay St. Louis.
