ANTX Conference continues at Port of Gulfport

The annual Advanced Naval Technology Exercise was held today at the Port of Gulfport

Industry partners along with the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command came together to present various demos of new technology at the annual ANTX Showcase.

This showcase is part of the Navy’s way of bringing tech into the hands of operators to evaluate it and to close mission gaps, which means they can do certain things they weren’t able to do before.

About ten pieces of tech were featured at ANTX and each executed mission-specific tests to evaluate it and see if it is efficient in real missions. Naval Oceanographic Office Commanding Officer Captain Ken Wallace said, “There’s no substitute for face-to-face contact and interactions like this, and so all I saw was great interaction and dialogue between Industry, Academia and government and that’s what we were trying to achieve today.”

About a dozen industry partners, such as NAV-Sea, Charles River Analytics, Hurricane Hunters, and more, helped complete these demos. CNMOC Chief Technology Officer Betty Jester said, “Our operators get to see where the future of technology is going and they are extremely innovative in how they want to apply it to their mission. The second piece is the industry partners get direct feedback from our operators about how to improve their product so they can be useful in a military situation.”

The annual Oceans in Action/ Port Security Summit will wrap up its final events tomorrow at 4 p.m.
