Anthony Mackie buys land in New Orleans East for a studio

New Orleans native Anthony Mackie, an actor, producer and writer who played Marvel’s Falcon and will take over the ‘Captain America’ role, is investing in his hometown.

Media outlets in the city are reporting that Mackie bought 20 acres in New Orleans East and plans to build a film studio.

Sources for nola.com/The Times Picayune say Mackie finalized the purchase last week for land off the Interstate 10 Service Road and Read Boulevard.

Mackie reportedly plans to base his new production company, East Studios LLC, at the facility and is looking to buy more space nearby.

The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts graduate has maintained a close relationship to the city.

According to the Internet Movie Database, Mackie has been in 209 films and has nine more in production. While he probably is best known as The Falcon in the Marvel movies, he also has been in “The Hurt Locker” and “The Manchurian Candidate.”
