Another Month To Finish Kemper Plant

Mississippi Power Company is adding another month to the construction schedule of the power plant it’s building in Kemper County. Atlanta-based Southern Company, the parent of the electrical utility, announced today that it’s pushing back the completion date from Oct. 31 to Nov. 30. That, in turn, is expected to add another $62 million, pushing the cost up to nearly $6.9 billion. Mississippi Power says it will absorb $33 million, but customers could be asked to pay the other $29 million.
