Anonymous person pays off lunch debt
A sweet and secret Samaritan makes the end of the school year a little easier for students, parents, and staff members.
An anonymous person donated hundreds of dollars to pay off school lunch charges within the Ocean Springs School District. If a younger student doesn’t have lunch money on a certain day they’re allowed to charge their meal. The district takes the loss for any unpaid charges at the end of the school year.
The $760 random donation took care of 171 students from kindergarten to eighth grade. Gayle Schultz with the Ocean Springs School District said, “It is wonderful to know that there is someone out there who cares about the district and that children can have their meals paid for and to help parents. I know that they feel truly blessed for this to happen because this isn’t something that happens every day and so we are appreciative of this person.”
None of the unpaid accounts within the district exceeded $20. Schultz says this is the first time anyone has done anything of this nature.
