Annual Robert McKeithen Memorial Blood Drive took place today
Donors from across the Coast and even the nation gave the gift of life today in honor of a local hero.
The third annual Robert McKeithen Blood Drive happened today at the Biloxi’s Visitor Center.
Officers and civilians from as far away as Ohio stopped by to give blood to the American Red Cross.
All of the blood collected will be used by them to supply our local hospitals.
Those that knew Officer McKeithen will tell you he supported his local community and what better way to honor him than to hold a blood drive in his name. Biloxi PD Community Relations Officer Reuben Sabio said, “This blood drive honors his legacy. This just shows the community that we are still out here despite the tragic death of Officer McKeithen. He is still alive in memory as we do this blood drive.”
Parked outside the blood drive was Officer McKeithen’s old patrol vehicle. After his death, the department decorated it to be a rolling memorial that Officer Sabio drives throughout the community.
