Annual Military One Coast Update
The Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce held its annual Military One Coast meeting this morning.
Local military base commanders gathered at the Knight Nonprofit Center in Gulfport to provide an update on base activities.
Colonel Chad Gemeinhardt with Keesler Air Force Base 81st Training Wing touched on their new marina, turf field, workout facility, and child development center renovations.
He also talked about upcoming projects, including work on a new air traffic control tower, and updates to the Pass Road gate. “We walked a little bit about the economic impact $1.8 billion in the community for 2022. That’s huge when it comes to the things and activities that we support. We had some fantastic successes in 2022. We are excited about some of the large projects. We are looking forward to 2023 and the opportunities there.”
Keesler Air Force Base is also looking forward to this year’s Thunder over the Sound air and space show, which is set for April 29th and April 30th.
The Special Olympics State Summer Games will also be held on base May 12th through the 14th.
